1. Sentani Lake
Sentani Lake, reachable through the curved paths amidst the hills that surround it, resembles the shape of an amoeba. It is the largest lake in Papua, known as the local’s pride for its fantastic, panoramic view.
Located in Jayapura, the 9.360 hectares wide lake is a water source to 14 different big and small rivers. The lake is also rich in resources, able to produce up to 1.823 tons of fish per year. The lake has 22 small islands that surround it. It is to no surprise that many tourists opt to visit this lake, granting it as one of the favorite tourist destinations in Papua.
2. Base-G Beach
Located in the city of Jayapura, Base-G Beach’s name is derived from the name given by war allies who set the area as a military base during WW2 . Base-G Beach is also alternatively known as Tanjung Ria Beach.
The beach’s clear, yet blue seawater, along with the bright ivory grains of sand and greeneries flourishing by the beach is a beauty to the eye. The beauty of this beach is incomparable to the strokes of a painting. The soft yet steady sounds of beach waves offer you relaxation upon visit. The unpolluted grains of ivory sands will make you want to take countless aesthetic pictures in this place.
3. Wasur National Park
Your trip to Papua is not complete if you do not come to see the island’s rare and unique fauna such as the blue and black broom-looking feathered bird, known as the cassowary bird.
You can see the rich flora and fauna of Papua in Wasur National Park. Located din Merauke Regency, the 413.810 hectares wide national park possesses the largest savannah in Indonesia and even Asia. Most of the faunas inhabiting the national park are animals that migrated from six different ecosystems. Exploring this national park will feel like an adventure.
